Why You Should Avoid Pushy Sales-Talk on your Business Blog?
Marketing is often thought as the field of advertisement and commercialization, but it is so much more than that. Social Media Marketing is exactly the contrary of the typical marketing definition that got stuck in your brain. It is about informing and creating awareness. You should therefore avoid pushy Sales-Talk on your business blog , and here are the reasons why:
Branding not selling
The whole idea behind Social Media is not to sell, well not in the first place. You use Social Media to create an identity for your business online . It is your tool to become recognized brand, develop connections with your industry, and your targeted readers. Your business blog enables you to inform your readers about who you are and what you do, so leave the sales-talk to the advertisement department of your business!
Too much ad kills the ad
What do you do when you watch Tv and see commercial? You switch channels. What do you do when advertisement is played on the Radio? You tune out. And when you read the paper? You turn the page. People are tired of being constantly attacked by commercials to tease them, and try to persuade them to buy, buy, buy…. They are revolting against it. So stop the spam! By forcing the pushy sales-talk on your readers you force them to withdraw and lose their attention.
Building Trust
A business blog is a great tool to create, develop and strengthen a trust relationship with your readers. The reason they read your blog posts, and keep reading them, is for the information you give them, about your company or the industry you represent; because you make them feel like they matter and that they can communicate with and about you. By using pushy sales-talk you suddenly break that link, and treat them like any other sales person around them. You take away that special feeling and destroy the trust your readers had in your business and lose everything your business blog has built for you.
Believe… Not
By developing a relationship through your business blog with your readers and then giving them a Sales-pitch for something that does not feed their needs shows your audience that you want manipulate them. Moreover, every business tries to convince their prospective customers that they are better through some sort of great deals they can’t find anywhere else… well, they don’t buy it! Offer your customer a product they want and that fits to their needs, not the one with the biggest profit margin! There is only so much a reader can take… after being promised everything and more by every single ad put in front of their noses, why should they keep believing you? But if you keep you business blog oriented toward information, communication and proving to your audience that it is about them, you will have a stronger impact.
To recap, by avoiding pushy Sales-Talk in your business blog, you brand your business online, you prove to your audience that they matter, that you understand their spam frustration and therefore allow them to trust you. So on the long term, you promote your business as a strong entity whose objective is to keep customer satisfied, informed and involved.

I think we need to carefully place ads or put them in a specific place. It’s not very convenience to see a bunch of link ads or Adsense inside a post we are reading. Post is for articles, ad spot is for ads. Like on ProBlogger.net , a successful example.
Btw I once visited a blog where the upper half of its total height is full of ads. The post is on the lower half. It’s like diving into sea of ads before reading the post. That’s a bad example.
